Lunchroom Ladies Brownies

  1. Preheat Oven: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9×13-inch baking pan or line it with parchment paper for easy removal.
  2. Melt Butter: In a medium saucepan, melt the butter over low heat. Remove from heat and let it cool slightly.
  3. Mix Sugar and Eggs: In a large mixing bowl, combine the melted butter and sugar. Stir until well combined. Add the eggs, one at a time, mixing well after each addition. Stir in the vanilla extract.
  4. Combine Dry Ingredients: In a separate bowl, sift together the flour, cocoa powder, salt, and baking powder.
  5. Combine Mixtures: Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture, stirring until just combined. If using, fold in the nuts and chocolate chips.
  6. Bake: Pour the batter into the prepared baking pan, spreading it evenly. Bake for 25-30 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out with a few moist crumbs (but not wet batter).
  7. Cool and Serve: Allow the brownies to cool in the pan before cutting into squares. Enjoy them warm or at room temperature!
